William Schoop Laid to Rest at Bellevue

Bellevue – (Special) – William Schoop sr., age 72, retired farmer and stock buyer, died at his home on Third street Thursday night at 9:30, after a short illness with flu and complications.

The deceased was born at Hanover, Germany, October 11, 1860, and was a son of Gurgen and Katrina Schoop. He came to America in 1880 and settled near Lamotte, where he lived for 17 years. He was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Rieckens September 10, 1899, and they resided on a farm five miles north of here until twelve years ago, when they retired, coming to Bellevue to reside. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran church, where he served 18 years as a deacon.

Surviving with the widow, are one son, William, and three grandchildren. One son Tasso made the supreme sacrifice during the World war.

The funeral service was held Monday afternoon from the home to St. John’s Lutheran church, where the Rev. S. H. Sandrock officiated. The burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery and the pallbearers were: Conrad and William Felderman of Bellevue. William Wiegert, Fred Wiegert, John Schoop and William Schroeder of Lamotte.
