Bellevue Navy Man Missing in Action

BELLEVUE – Mr. and Mrs. J. Henry Kueter, living on route 3, received a message Sunday morning from the War department announcing that their son, Cletus, a fireman first class was missing in action.

This is the first casualty of the war in Bellevue. He was born on a farm near Bellevue, Oct. 1, 1921 and after graduating from St. Joseph’s high school with the class of 1940, enlisted in the navy.

Besides his parents, he is survived by six brothers, Maurice of Dubuque, Hugo in the navy stationed at Pearl Harbor, Richard of Bellevue, Pvt. John Henry Kueter in training at Chanute Field, Ill., James at the Great Lakes, Mark at home and one sister, Joanne.

A requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s church at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning.
