Anna R. Thill was born in Preston, Iowa, October 1, 1875, daughter of Henry and Eliza Schocker Thill. Eliza Schocker Thill was called to her heavenly home on February 6, 1881, leaving three small daughters. They were taken to Dubuque to a Catholic convent. Anna left the convent on August 3, 1903 and came to Maquoketa, Iowa. She married Henry John Schocker, in Davenport, Iowa on December 28, 1904. They lived there until December 18, 1905, when they moved to the Squires farm, just east of Maquoketa, which they rented. Anna was called to her heavenly hoome on Tuesday, February 2, 1909, leaving her husband and one daughter, Anna Clara, an infant one month of age. Se possessed a sunny and loving disposition and as loved by all who knew her.
Transition services were held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Febrary 6, 1909 at Sacred Heart Catholic church, Rev. Father Bowen in charge of the services. The body was laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery.DATE OF DEATH: 2 February 1909
