Anna J. WendelFuneral service was held at Buchner funeral home Thursday afternoon for Anna J. Wendel, who died Tuesday after a brief illness. Death was due to shock from a broken hip which was sustained in a fall last week. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery with the Rev. Harry Green, of the Methodist church, officiating.
The deceased was a daughter of Charles and Julia Wendel and was born May 9, 1869 near Maquoketa, and has spent almost her entire life in this vicinity. She attended the local schools and later graduated from Highland Park college, Des Moines, and Kankakee nurses’ training, and was a registered nurse.
She was a member of the Methodist church, Pythian Sisters, W. R. C. and was active in both church and lodge circles.
She is survived by a brother, George Wendel, of Maquoketa, with whom she made her home; a brother H. Edward Wendel, of Rock Island, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Park, of Clinton, and Mrs. Carrie Edwards, of Chicago. Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
