Sarah A. Abel was born at Elizabethtown, Essex county, N. Y., Nov. 25, 1823, and peacefully passed away at her home on South Main street Saturday, Aug. 29, at 4:30 p.m. She was married May 21, 1856, to Jason Pangborn and has since resided in Maquoketa. Her husband died in 1888 leaving her with the care of three children, Herbert, Edward and Addie who are now left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother.

Mrs. Pangborn was more of a domestic than a society woman and as such took her greatest comfort and pleasure in the companionship of her children and grand children. She was a member of the Methodist church and passed from this land of care and trouble firmly believing that she was prepared for the land of rest.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Geo. B. Shoemaker, were held at the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with interment in Mt. Hope cemetery.
