DUPUY. – At his home in this city, Sunday night, July 30, of Bright’s disease, David Young DuPuy, aged 63 years, 4 mos., 2 days. David DuPuy was born in St. Clair county, Ill., March 27, 1830, of parents who were pioneer settlers there. In 1846 he came to Iowa and settled in Otter Creek township, where he resided until November, 1881, and conducted a blacksmith and wagon shop, also manufactured the Jenkins cultivator. He held various offices of trust in his township and was an honorable official. He was in Texas during the winter of 1859-60 and made the trip across the plains to Montana in 1864. In 1881 he moved to Maquoketa and engaged in the grocer business, which he followed to the day of his demise. He was married in Jackson county to Elizabeth Noakes who is a native of Gurnsey Co., Ohio, and has been for deceased a most devoted life companion. She is left a sorrowing survivor of a long and happy married life. The remains were conveyed to the Sweesy cemetery, north of Fulton, Tuesday afternoon, where the burial rites of the Masonic order were exercised.
