January 13, 1893Mrs. Deborah Littell died at her home in this city, January 4, 1893, at the ripe age of 88 years and 7 months. For more than 70 years she has been a consistent member of the Baptist church, living an exemplary Christian life. In the midst of life’s troubles she was very patient and manifested to an unusual degree the spirit of love. Finding time to minister not only to the comfort of her own family but to others as well, her life was one of unceasing toil and care, exhibiting to a very degree the Christian graces. Her husband died 27 years ago. Her maiden name was Teeple. She was born in the state of New York, June 8, 1804. She was married to Mr. Littell in 1823. Two years later they removed to Canada and resided there until 1849 when they came to Jackson county, Iowa. Deceased was the mother of twelve children, of whom the following survive and were present at the funeral: Marcus, Charles A., Hiram, John, George, Mrs. Chas. Burleson, Mrs. N. M. Balch, Mrs. Frank Burleson and Mrs. Emily Edwards. The funeral services, held at the Baptist church last Friday forenoon, and conducted by the Rev. Francis M. Archer, were largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Buck Horn.
