Jackson Sentinel, September 15, 1942.

Funeral Rites Held Thursday At Baldwin For Mrs. Wm. Hurst.

Trula Blood Hurst, daughter of Will and Ora Houston Blood, was born December 4, 1902, at Emeline, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood receiving her education in the Emeline School and later at Maquoketa and Cedar Falls.

On April 21, 1925, she was united in marriage to William Hurst of Hurstville, Iowa. The first home was established at Hurstville, but in 1926 they came to Monmouth, where they had opened a store and where they have since continually made their home.

Two daughters, Donna, aged 15, and little Judy, 2, were born to them, and in this home life this young wife and mother brought all the affection, constancy, and richness of spirit that were divinely hers.

Besides the husband and children, she leaves her mother, two brothers, Clifford and Carroll Blood; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Edwards. Also surviving are two aunts, Mrs. Gertrude Streets and Mrs. Lillia Alden; two uncles, Osa Houston and Will Houston, and several nephews and nieces.

Two of the family circle have gone before: one sister, Mrs. Tina Willison and the father, Will Blood, whose passing was recent.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, the Rev. Robert Marshall officiating, appropriate piano music was rendered by Mrs. Marian Orris, Mrs. Grace Collins, Mrs. Christ Kriete, and Mrs. Olga Gee had charge of flowers. Casket bearers were Howard Gee, Howard Kriete, Leslie Collins, Tim Ripperton, Lyle Jenkins and George Paulsen. Burial was in the Monmouth cemetery.
