Jackson County Lady Dies at Hopkinton

Turzilla Green was born at Iron Hill, Iowa, August 9, 1850, and departed from this life April 1, 1927, at her home in Hopkinton, Ia.

She was the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Green, pioneer settlers of Jackson county. She grew to womanhood on the old homestead one half mile west of Iron Hill. Her entire life was spent in Jackson, Jones and Delaware counties.

She was united in marriage to Mathias Casteel Nov. 17, 1869, and to this union were born seven children, all of whom are living: L. Casteel, Lewistown, Mont.; W. S. Casteel, Maquoketa, Ia.; Mrs. Nora Streets, Onslow, Mrs. Scott Ripple, Fulton, Mrs. Agnes Payne, Hopkinton, A. M. Casteel, Marion, S. M. Casteel, Hopkinton, Ia. Also 37 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Sylvester Green of Maquoketa, and Jonas Green of Cedar Rapids, and one sister, Mrs. Alonzo Templeton of Iron Hill, Ia., survive to mourn her loss.

Forty-five years ago she was united with the Christian church and was a firm believer in her God and a kind, devoted mother.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at Hopkinton, Sunday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Wilcox officiating. Interment was made in the Hopkinton cemetery.

Those attending the funeral from here were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Ripple, Mrs. and Mrs. Walter Casteel and daughters Alma and Edith, and son Clifford, and Mrs. and Mrs. Sylvester Green.
