DIED - RHODES
Michael Rhodes was born in Maryland, April 5th, 1824, and died at his home in Canton, Iowa, July 19th, 1890. In 1852, he moved to Canton, where he lived, until he inlisted[sic] in the 26th Iowa infantry. In 1865, after returning from the army, he went into partnership with J.B. Alberry of Canton, in the wagon-making business. His work on the battlefield left him with such impaired health that he could not work as hard as he would otherwise have done, yet he was diligent and successful in business as well as could be expected. He was a quiet, peaceable man who had many friends. Two wives preceeded him from this world, and of the six children only three remain. - 7 Aug 1890, Jackson Sentinel, Maquoketa, IA, Pg 5
