December 30, 1921J. W. Brown Dies at North Cambridge, Minn.
Jacob William Brown was born August 13, 1851, at Wittenburg, Germany, where he was baptized in the protestant faith. He came to this country when he was about 3 years of age, with his father, who settled in Jones county, near Monticello. He became an orphan shortly after, having lost his mother in Germany, and his father shortly after the arrival in Iowa, and he was taken into the home of a neighbor, Samuel Clark, who cared for him.
When he became of age he took a homestead in Rooks County, Kansas, near Plainville, and on August 26, 1888, married Miss May Ralston at Maquoketa, Iowa, and this union was blessed with ten children who survive. He went to Isanti county, purchasing a large farm in North Cambridge and where the family has since resided.
He was gifted with fair health until he became afflicted with cancer, some two years ago, which medical aid could not relieve. He was at the time of his death 70 years, 4 months and 7 days of age.
His nearest relatives are his wife and ten children, who are: Freeman, Earl, Howard, Edna, Norman, Harlan and Lela Leona, all of North Cambridge; Mrs. Grace Frederica Farnsworth, Haywood, Wis.; George Frederick, Alva Lee and Raymond of Baldwin, Iowa.
The body arrived in Maquoketa Friday afternoon and services were held Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Buchner Chapel, Rev. E. A. Lang officiating. Burial took place in Mt. Hope cemetery.
