Funeral Rites Held August 14, 1947 for Mrs. Alice T. McGowan

Mrs. Alice T. McGowan, a resident of Maquoketa for the past ten years, died Monday, August 11, in City Memorial hospital.

Funeral services were held in Chicago, Ill., where she lived prior to coming to Maquoketa. The funeral mass was celebrated at St. Raphael’s church by the Rev. Shiller. The Rev. Richard Brown, a Jesuit priest of Cincinnati and a cousin of Mrs. McGowan, was present in the sanctuary.

Pall bearers were six nephews of Mrs. McGowan and interment was at Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Mr. McGowan preceded her in death some years ago.

Surviving are her daughter, Mae, of Maquoketa, and two sons, Bernard and Gerald, both of Chicago; and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Shanahan of Chicago.
