THOMPSON: - At the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. H. Fort, in Rhodes, Ia, April 29, 1903, of paralysis, John Patterson Thompson, aged 87 years and 24 days.

Deceased was born in Indiana, Pa., April 5, 1816, and Oct. 28, 1842, was married to Miss Barbara J. McDowell in Summerhill, Pa., who survives him, after 61 years of devoted wedlock. They moved to Maquoketa in 1864, where they resided and made many good friends until 1897 when they went to live with their daughter Mrs. Fort. Deceased was 67 years a consistent member of the Masonic order 50 years. He was the father of nine children towit: Mrs. Dr. H. W. Hillmann, Bristolville, O; Mrs. Dr. H. A. Walling, Jefferson, O; Mrs. W. H. Fort, Rhodes, Ia,; W. A. Thompson, Enderlin, N. D.; J. F. Thompson, (dec’d) Denver, Colo.; J. H. Thompson, New York; Ed S. Thompson (de’d) Maquoketa, Ia; C. J. Thompson, Clinton, Ia.; J. E. Thompson, Kansas City, Mo. The funeral exercises of this estimable old gentleman took place at the home of his daughter in Rhodes and the remains were then accompanied to Maquoketa by the sons C. J. and W. A. Thompson, where interment took place in the family lot, Mt. Hope Cemetery 9 a.m., Friday, May 1st, under direction and attended in a body by Helion Lodge, No. 36, A. F. and A. M.
