Maude Abrams, 70, Dies; Last Rites Here Saturday

Mrs. Maude Abrams, 70, died Thursday in a local nursing home. Last rites will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Haylock-O’Hara funeral home. The Rev. M. H. Nothdruft will officiate and burial will be made in Esgate cemetery.

Mrs. Abrams was born July 12, 1887, in Jackson county, daughter of Charles M. and Katherine Book Smith. Her first husband, John C. Ortell, whom she married in 1904, died in 1906. In 1922 she married Sherman Abrams, who survives her. She was a Methodist and a member of the Gold Star Mothers of the American Legion auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Lange of Lowden and Mrs. Imogene Fistonich of Riverside, Ill.; three sons, Edward of Pasadena; Calif., George Ortell of Lyons, Ill., and John Abrams of Lyons, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Tadtsen and Mrs. Hugo Riepe, both of Clinton, Ia., and Mrs. Trula Moss of Maquoketa; and 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
