July 15, 1941Death Claims Bellevue Man Friday After Extended Illness
BELLEVUE – Henry Tietjen, who had been an invalid for 15 years, was claimed by death at 4:30 Friday morning in his home north of Bellevue. He had been in a serious condition for several weeks.
He was born Feb. 8, 1871, a son of the late Albert and Marie Timmerman Tietjen on a farm in Tete des Morts township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Donatus. He engaged in farming, retiring a number of years ago.
He married Miss Lena Guenther Sept. 30, 1912, the ceremony taking place in St. John’s Lutheran church at Bellevue.
Surviving with the widow are his son, Wilbur of New Hampton; his daughter, Mrs. Charles Bailey, of Bellevue, both by a previous marriage; one brother, John of New Hampton; two half-sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Smith and Mrs. Anna Struble of Dubuque, and two grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday and after prayer services at the home at 1:30 o’clock, the last rites were conducted at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran church by the Rev. S. H. Sandrock. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.
