Old Settler Dead

John Gibson passed away Monday at his home in Monmouth at the advanced age of almost 98 years. Deceased was a civil war veteran and the oldest settler in Jackson county, having been presented seven years ago with the gold cane, which the Old Settlers’ Association presents to their oldest member.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, the members of the Baldwin Legion attending in a body.
