John Newton VannJohn Newton Vann was born March 1, 1847, at Fulton, Ia., the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Vann, who were among the very first pioneers of this country. Mr. Vann has lived in the vicinity of Fulton nearly all his life. August 12, 1885, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Marek, and to this union were born two children, May and Grace, now Mrs. O. F. Saunders and Mrs. Clarence Heide.
He became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the L. D. S. October 25, 1903, and died at his home in Fulton Tuesday, May 3, 1921, at the age of 72. He leaves to mourn the loss his wife, two daughters and one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Locke of Charlotte. The funeral was held from the L. D. S. chapel in Fulton, Wednesday, Amos Berve of Davenport officiating, with interment in the Esgate cemetery.
