Jackson Sentinel, March 11, 1921.

Early Settler Dead

John Henry Bullerdick, another of our few remaining pioneer residents, passed away at his home south of Bellevue, in Washington township, Saturday morning, after an illness of several months with dropsy of the heart, his death occurring in his 85th year.

Deceased was born March 5, 1836, in Osnabruek, Hanover, Germany, and came to America in 1852. He arrived at St. Louis, and owing an uncle for his transportation, he remained at the latter place in the employment of a building constructor for a year and a half and then came to Galena, Ill., in 1854. He came to Jackson county the same year and had since made his home here.

Mr. Bullerdick followed the occupation of farmer, ferryman and thresher man for 38 years. He resided on the farm where he passed away and no man in this vicinity was held in higher esteem or enjoyed the good will of more friends than he did.

Funeral services were held at his late home Monday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Leonard Spooner of the Preston Congregational church and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery at Bellevue.
