Jackson Sentinel, March 22, 1921.

Pioneer Resident of This is Called by Death.

After an illness of only one day, Adolph J. Anderson, one of the pioneer residents of this community, passed away at his home on West Quarry st. Tues. evening, March 17, at 8:00 o’clock, aged 87 years, three months and six days. Mr. Anderson was one of the grand old gentlemen of our city and county and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. Advanced age had naturally retarded his step, but to sickness he was an entire stranger, never having been confined to his bed until the day before death called him.

Mr. Anderson was born in Hadersleben, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Dec. 11, 1833, and came to America in 1854, settling on a farm near Miles, Ia., which continued to be his home for 60 years. In 1857 he was united in marriage to Christina Quitzau, to which union were born five children, the wife and mother passing away in 1884. In 1885 he was married to Anna Peterson, and to this union three children were born. Surviving are his wife, five children, Mrs. Anna Peterson, Jacob Anderson and Peter Anderson, all of Miles, and Adolph and Julius Anderson, who reside on the old home farm near that city, and one foster daughter, Mrs. Anna Lenhart, of Tacoma, Ia.; also six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

A short service was conducted at the late home by the Rev. L. N. Volmar of Lost Nation Saturday, the remains being taken to the old farm home near Miles, where funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by the Rev. W. Sandrock, pastor of the Lutheran church at Preston. Interment was made in the Teeds Grove cemetery.
