DIED.

On the 11th day of January, 1891, Martin Stayer, at the advanced age of 81 years and 20 days. The deceased was born in York county, Penn., December 22nd, 1809. He was married January 19th, 1832, to Miss Rachel Raliya and fourteen children were born to them, five of which preceded him to the spirit world. His aged companion and nine children survive to mourn his death. He moved, with his family, to Iowa in 1867. In his early life he was a member of the M. E. Church, but in later years on account of great infirmities, he was unable to enjoy the public privileges and benefits of the church, his mind and memory having so failed him, that he was not conscious of much that transpired.

The funeral took place on the 14th, from the residence of James Kauffman. The service was conducted at Christ’s Reformed Church, near Buckhorn, by Rev. S. P. Harrington.

Numerous old friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to a fellow mortal. Peace be to his ashes.
