Obituary of George Bollinger

George Bollinger was born in Brookfield Township, Clinton County. He attended the public school and Methodist Sunday School at Delmar, Iowa.

On March 26, 1918, he was married to Florence Poffenberger of Maquoketa, Iowa.

He leaves besides his wife, two children, George and Mareene, his father Leonard A. Bollinger and an adopted sister Wylma.

He lived at his father’s country house south of Maquoketa, where he lived until his death which occurred November 19, 1920.

His mother preceded him in death December 8, 1918.

The funeral services were conducted from the Union church by the Rev. Maxell of the M. E. church at Delmar, who spoke from the text John 14-1 to 3.

Then songs were sung by Miss Hazel Kendall and Mrs. Emma Staack, namely: “He Will Meet Me at the Portals”, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” and “Nearer My God to Thee”.

The remains were interred in the Union Church Cemetery.

The out of town people who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Retter, Geraldine Baker of Marion, Phillip Lutz of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ray Hayes of Davenport, Mrs. Glen Oberheim and Mrs. Poffenberger of Savanna.
