Nancy Jane Parkinson was born near Gwell, Ontario, Canada, February 28, 1843, and remained in her parental home until reaching womanhood. On December 22, 1859 she was married to John Allison, the young couple coming a year later to the United States settling in Clinton County, Ia. Because of ill health of Mrs. Allison, the family decided to go back to Canada, but returned to the States in 1878. The family then consisted of the father, mother and eight children and they settled near Delmar and later established their home near Elwood. After seven years they again resided near Delmar remaining there thirteen years, the family moving to this city about twelve years ago. The parents of Mrs. Allison passed away many years ago and are laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery at Delmar. She was converted when a girl of eleven years and during all these years had been at church. She was always found actively engaged in the various departments of church work when her health permitted.
