Mrs. W. F. Smola Rites Thursday; Dies In Mason City

Funeral services for Mrs. William F. (Margaret) Smola, 91, who died Sunday in Mason City, Ia., were held Thursday from the Haylock O’Hara funeral home to Sacred Heart Catholic church at 9 a.m. The Rev. E. W. Losbrock, pastor, officiated and interment was made in the church cemetery.

As Margaret Ann, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Sophia Dempsey. Born Oct. 18, 1864, at Bankston, Ia., she was married July 26, 1884, in Cedar Rapids. Her husband, for many years a Maquoketa cement contractor, died May 3, 1932.

She is survived by one son. Charles of Mason City, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son W. F. Smola Jr. died in infancy.

One of the grandchildren surviving is Mrs. Fred E. Clary of Maquoketa.
