Jackson Sentinel, Feb. 7, 1907:

DIED – James McNabb, one of the pioneers of Jackson county, passed away at the home of his son, Wylie McNabb, in San Bernardino, Calif., last week, the funeral taking place at the home of his son, on Friday, Jan. 31st. James McNabb was born in Philadelphia, Penn., in 1826. In 1848 he came west to Galena, Ill., and in the same year to Jackson county, Iowa. In 1855 he was married to Mary Hogg, a native of Pennsylvania, who passed away in 1874. On Oct. 26, 1875, he was married to Mary Livingston, who died about fifteen years ago. He had six children by his first marriage, only one surviving. James McNabb was a resident of this county for over fifty years. He was an energetic and progressive farmer, owning at one time, a large tract of land in Perry township, which he sold when he moved to this city in the 80’s. The last six or seven years of his life he spent at the home of his son in San Bernardino.
