Maquoketa Sentinel, October 5, 1854:

DIED
In Maquoketa, after a short illness, on Sep. 28, 1854, Mrs. Lucia E. Dearborn, wife of Dr. J.G.Dearborn, and daughter of Judge Berry, aged 35 years. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
At an early age she made a profession of her faith in Christ, and united with the First Congregational Church of Newbury, Vt., of which she was a consistent and useful member until her removal to this State about a year ago.
Since that period, her mild, affectionate and Christian spirit, her active exertions in the Sabbath School and Bible Class, and her unwaivering attachment to the House of God and the prayer meeting, secured to her the esteem of all who were privileged to know her.
The principles of the Christian Religion were fully developed in her life, and her Christian character were so well balanced and so uniform, that no one Christion grace seemed to be cultivated to the neglect of others. As she lived so she died, and while her bereaved family mourn over the loss they have sustained, they can but rejoice and give thanks to God that she gave evidence that she was well prepared for the Heavenly rest, and that she was spared the suffering and toil of a protracted sickness.
As a kind friend and neighbor, she was held in high esteem by all around her.
"The Righteous shall be held in everlasting remembrance."
