Funeral Services Held Saturday For Franklin Reiter

Funeral services for Franklin Reiter, 63, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Harrison funeral home with the Rev. C. Edward Holyoke officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery.

Pall bearers were Wes Conway, Charles Sanger, Wm. Weets, John Strodthoff, Ernest Reynolds and Clyde Waite.

Franklin Perry, son of Manassas and Jane Reiter, Iowa born March 26, 1878, at Niles, Ohio. In the early eighties the family moved west and located at Van Horn, Iowa, and several years later settled in Maquoketa where Mr. Reiter finished his education.

He was united in marriage to Alice Head on March 27, 1888. After his marriage Mr. Reiter was prosperously engaged in the grocery business until a severe siege of inflammatory rheumatism so impaired his health that he was forced to retire.

He was taken seriously ill about two weeks ago and entered City Memorial hospital for treatment. On Monday, August 8, he was removed to Iowa University hospital where he died about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

For many years Mr. Reiter was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Daughters of Rebekah. He was a past noble grand of Jackson Lodge No. 33, and served for several years as secretary.

Surviving are the wdow; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Harrington; one son, Carlyle; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
