A TRAGIC DEATH

D. J. Hanrahan, an old resident of Clinton County, residing near Petersville was instantly killed on Tuesday night last while driving home from this city.

East of Petersville the team, it is supposed got frightened at a bridge and became unmanageable throwing Mr. Hanrahan from the wagon. His head came in contact with the bridge and his skull was crushed, killing him instantly, his body falling into the creek below.

Parties coming along saw the broken wagon and the horses in the Deep Creek church yard, following up the debris they discovered Mr. Hanrahan in the water, the unfortunate man was removed but the last spark of life had fled.

He was immediately taken to his home and Coroner Kellogg sent for who went to Petersville and summoned a jury, who gave a verdict of accidental death.

The deceased was 57 years of age. He is survived by his wife, three brothers, Hugh, W. D. and John and one sisters, Mrs. Thomas O’Meara, all well known residents of the vicinity of Petersville.

The funeral occurred yesterday at Petersville, Rev. Father O’Dowd officiating and interment in the Deep Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Hanrahan was a kind man to all with whom he came in contact and was his own worst enemy. He had a wide circle of friends throughout the county who will regret his tragic death.
