OBITUARY

Charles G. Follett was born in New Haven, Vermont, June 21, 1826 died in Maquoketa Feb. 7 at four o’clock a.m., aged eighty-two years, seven months and twelve days.

He was married to Miss Philene S. Clary in1854 in Franklin county then they moved to Maquoketa, Iowa in 1862 and settled in the third ward, one block south of the high school ground on South Main street, where he has lived ever since.

To this union two children were born, Norman M. and Hiram W. Follett who with their mother Mrs. Philene S. Follett survive him.

Mr. Follett was a good husband, a good father and a good neighbor loved by every one who knew him. He was gatekeeper at the Jackson County Fair for over thirty years so was known all over the county. He has lived in Maquoketa forty-six years. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. Foster officiated and interment at Mount Hope.
