Lydia Almira Chandler, was born in St. John, Ontario, Canada, April 16, 1821 and passed to her reward, Saturday evening, November 16, 1907 aged 88 years, 7 months and one day. She lived in her native place until the year 1843 when the family moved to Michigan and then one year later came to Iowa. In 1847 she was united in marriage to Abner T. Wilcox with whom for more than fifty-four years she proved a trusted and loyal helpmate. She was a woman of quiet and retireing disposition. One who loved her home and her children with a never waning and always increasing devotion. In later years she learned to exercise a quiet trust in God to believe in His Son for salvation. Six sons and one daughter mourn her departure. Joseph and Delos of Baldwin, Noble of Maquoketa, Edwin and William of Wyoming, Nelson of Sisseton, South Dakota and Mrs. Anna G. Clapp of Crookston, Minnesota, also two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mary L. Grant and Robt. G. Chandler of Maquoketa and Mrs. Margaret E. Berman of Premport, Ill. The funeral was attended by a large concourse of people was held at the M. E. church on Tuesday last. Rev. Davis officiated and the remains laid to rest in the Buckhorn cemetery.
