DEATH WAS SUDDEN.
(From the Bellevue Leader.)

This community was greatly shocked Tuesday evening by the announcement of the death of Mrs. John Lundin who succumbed to an attack of apoplexy at her home on North Third Street. When Mr. Lundin went home to supper at about 5 o’clock he was startled upon entering the kitchen to find his wife lying dead upon the floor. Life had evidently been extinct only a short time as there was still much warmth in the body. Dr. Hanake was hastily summoned but an examination proved that Mrs. Lundin was beyond medical assistance. Mrs. Lundin had made preparations for the evening meal and was in her usual health having gone downtown that morning to do some shopping. Needless to say her death was a terrible blow to her husband and family and friends.

Her daughter, County Superintendent Hilda G. Lundin was immediately notified by telephone and arrived in Bellevue two hours afterward.

The deceased whose maiden name was Wilhelmina Svenson was born November 11, 1834 at Mariestadt, Sweden. She was married October 20, 1860 to Mr. John Lundin at the same place. They came to America in 1865 and in 1866 settled at Bellevue. After a residence of seven years in this city they moved to New York where they spent three years and in 1876 returned to Bellevue and have resided here ever since. Mrs. Lundin was the mother of six children of whom four survive: Gustav William of Littleport, Iowa, John A. of Brighton, Colorado and Hilda G., superintendent of schools of Jackson county, and Alfred Reynolds of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Lundin was a woman of superior qualities of mind and heart with a character marvelously rich in those attributes which produce one of the world’s greatest blessings – a good woman. She was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church with which she united in early girlhood and bore life’s burdens with Christian patience and cheerfulness.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the house and will be conducted by Rev. F. Tiede, of Maynard, Iowa.
