Monsignor Edgar Joseph Kurt, age 93, of Dubuque, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 at Stone Hill Care Center in Dubuque.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellevue. Archbishop Jerome Hanus will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 4 P.M., Wednesday at the church. Visitation will follow until 7:00 P.M. at the church.

Monsignor Kurt was born March 27, 1914 in Bellevue to John and Louise(Heim) Kurt. He completed his seminary training at St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, Md., at the age of 28. He lived in Villa Raphael in Dubuque for 18 years.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Olga Wagener, and four brothers, Raymond, Greg and twins Oscar and Winifred.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Loras College in Dubuque. Kingery-John C. Lemke Funeral Home of Bellevue is handling arrangements.
