Maquoketa Record, May 7, 1907:
Lucy Walp Buchner was born Nov., 1870 near Andrew, and died May 1, 1907, of tuberculosis. When a child her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Walp moved to Maquoketa in and near which she has since lived with the exception of over a year spent in South Dakota whence she returned two months ago on account of failing health.
She was married to Owen Eugene Buchner, June 27, 1890, and to this union were born two sons, and two daughters, aged 9, 6, 4, and 2 respectively. Her father recently moved to New York City. She also leaves two brothers, one in Canada and one here, and one sister, Mrs. Steve Davis of this city to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held at the home west of Hurstville, Friday, May 3, at 2 p.m. and remains laid to rest in Mt. Hope, Rev. D.F.Boomershine, officiating.
