Jackson Sentinel, January 3, 1907:
WRIGHT-At his home on South Fifth Street, this city, December 28, 1906, of general debility, James Russell Wright, aged 72 years.
The deceased was one of our earliest pioneer citizens, coming to Iowa with his father, Alfred Wright, 65 years ago. He was a man of strict integrity, always a hard working farmer until overcome by ill health. He was born at St. George, New York, March, 1833. In 1848 he came west and located on a farm south of town, where he continued to reside until a few years ago when he moved to town where he has since resided. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor and an honest man. He leaves a widow, a sister, Mrs. A.E.Currier, of this city, a daughter, Mrs. C.T.Fuller of Rock Island, and one son William of Lake Preston, Minnesota. Funeral services were held from the home at 10:30 a.m.Monday, Rev. M.Dana officiating.
