Jackson Sentinel, August 2, 1894:
Mrs. John Suthers died at her home in this city, July 26, 1894, after a lingering illness, aged 66 years.
Mrs. Suthers was born in Quincy, Illinois, in 1828 and removed to Iowa with her parents in 1839, and was married to John F. Suthers after arriving. Eight children were the fruits of this union, five of whom survive her-three sons and two daughters-who mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for 23 years previous to her death. The funeral services were conducted at the house at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, and the remains were taken to Welton for burial.
