Jackson Sentinel, August 2, 1894:
Mrs. Robert Strain, whose maiden name was Mary A. Sisler, died at her home in Bellevue, last Thursday, July 19th, in her 67th year, after a illness resulting from a complication of diseases.
The deceased was born in Huntington County, Pennsylvania, in 1827, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Robert Strain, who survives her, in February, 1849. The young couple removed to Jackson County, Iowa, in 1852, where they settled on a farm in Jackson Township and continued to reside there until three years ago when they came to spend the remainder of their days in Bellevue.
