Jackson Sentinel, August 2, 1894:
O.H. Whitney, died at his home in this city, July 25, 1894, of old age, aged 74 years.
Deceased was born in Greenwich, New York and came to Iowa in 1846, settling on a farm 6 miles south-west of Maquoketa, where he prospered and a few years ago retired from the farm to a residence in this city. He did not marry until attaining the age of 60 years. His wife is left to mourn the taking away of a devoted husband. The funeral took place Friday afternoon, Rev. G.A. Whitney officiating.
