MAQUOKETA — Mildred Lucille Miller, 90, of San Pedro, Calif., formerly of Maquoketa, died Friday at Fountain View Subacute and Nursing Center in Los Angeles, Calif.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa. Memorials may be directed to the family.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1916, in Maquoketa to Russell W. and Winnifred L. (Gannon) Miller. She graduated from Andrew High School in 1934 and graduated from the University of Dubuque in 1936. She was a teacher in earlier years and in 1942 from 1982 worked in the United States Naval Station, Supply Department, in Tacoma, Wash., and in San Pedro and Long Beach, Calif., for many years.

She was an active Catholic member of Mary Star Church of the Sea and St. Peter Church and Claretian Guild of San Pedro. Recipient of Eder Memorial Senior Citizen Award and San Pedro Neighborhood Service Award. A volunteer at the voting poll for the San Pedro Service Center and enjoyed managing bus trips to raise money for the Claretian Guild.

Survivors include two brothers, James (Margaret Mary) Miller, of Maquoketa and David W. Miller of Andrew and a sister-in-law, Corrine Miller of Delmar and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Leona (Miller) Jessen and Marcella (Miller) Rohse and three brothers, Russell, John and Paul Miller.
