Jackson Sentinel, April 24, 1953:
Mrs. Emma Binns Funeral Services Friday Afternoon.
Last rites for Mrs. Emma Binns, 54, wife of G.Edward Binns, clerk of the district court, will be held this (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock in the Carson Funeral Home. The Rev. M.H.Nothdurft, pastor of the Maquoketa Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be made in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Members of the Rebekah Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star lodge, of which Mrs. Binns was a member, will attend the service as a body.
A former school teacher, Mrs. Binns was born Aug. 14, 1898, as Emma Marie, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Johnson Ketchum. On June 15, 1921, she was married in Marion to G.Edward Binns. In addition to her activities in the O.E.S. and Rebekahs, Mrs. Binns was also a member of LAPM.
Surviving are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Lolla Lambert of Wheatland and Mrs. Priscilla Anderson of Independence; one brother, Charles Ketchum of West Branch; one sister, Jennie Benischek of Maquoketa; and two grandchildren; her parents and one sister preceded her in death.
