Funeral Services Today.
Lanvil Moler, Ex-Mayor, Probation Officer, Dead.
Lanvil Moler, 57, a former Maquoketa city councilman, an ex-mayor and Jackson County probation officer, died about 8:30 p.m., Saturday in the Jackson County Public Hospital here.
Mr. Moler suffered a heart attack shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday while in the office of Sheriff Loren C. Felderman. He was rushed to the office of his physician and from there to the hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Moler will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the W.G.Carson & Son funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. M.H.Nothdurft, pastor of the Maquoketa Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Andrew Cemetery.
A life-long resident of Jackson County, he was born Mar. 24, 1902, in Andrew, Iowa, a son of Dr.E.E. and Laura Dickerson Moler. His father was a well known veterinarian in this area for many years. On May 29, 1935, he married Clara Huffman in Andrew.
For a number of years he operated a garage in Andrew. In 1941, he and his family moved to Maquoketa. He served on the Maquoketa city council in 1947-1948. He had been county probation officer since 1954. Mr. Moler was mayor of Maquoketa from March of 1951 through December of 1953. During his administration the city undertook and completed a three quarter million dollar street surfacing project.
Surviving are Mrs. Moler, one son, William E., a Maquoketa businessman, two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Williams of South Bend, Indiana and Mrs. Edna Livingston of Washington, Iowa, and two grandchildren. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
