MRS. W. O. NIMS DIES WEDNESDAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. W. O. Nims, 75, died Wednesday evening at her home on South Olive street following several weeks illness. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church, Rev. Harry Green officiating. Burial will be in Bridgeport cemetery.
Nellie Angeline Van Emburgh was born near Sibley, Iowa, June 22, 1872, and as a young child moved with her parents to Lansing, Iowa, where she grew to maturity. In 1895 she was married to William O. Nims of Maquoketa. They resided on a farm northeast of town for fifty years, after which they moved to Maquoketa.
She is survived by her husband; nine children, Horace of Aurora, Ill., Claude of Woodburn, Ore., Harold of Clinton, Harry of Elwood, Mildred and Paul of Independence, Herbert, Carson and Bertha of Maquoketa; a brother, Frank Van Emburgh of Rock Island; a sister, Eva of Independence and 22 grandchildren, two of whom, Arlene and Allen Nims, have been reared in their home.
Two daughters, Florence and Nora, and a son, George, preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Methodist church and active in the Womans Relief Corps, Ladies of the G.A.R. and Legion Auxiliary
