Maquoketa Record, March 10, 1908:
Jerome Poole was born January 24, 1859, in Decatur County, Indiana, and departed this life March 6, 1908, at Independence, Iowa. When about seven years of age he removed with his parents to Jackson County, Iowa, where he resided until nine years ago when he removed with his family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On September 5, 1880, he was married to Mary M. Brown. To this union were born seven children, four of them have preceded their father to the other world. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and three children, Arien, Ida M. and Arthur Eugene, besides a father, mother, three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Fred Weichers, New Point, Indiana, Mrs. Dolphins Campbell, Mrs. Albert M. Blake, Samuel W. and James J. Poole, all of Maquoketa, Iowa. His remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Dolphins Campbell, on Saturday March 7 and funeral services conducted by Rev. A. T. Foster were held at the Esgate School House March 8, at 3:00 p.m. and interment being made in Esgate Cemetery.
