Jackson Sentinel, September 29, 1898:
Hannah Jane Pike was born in Queensbury, Warren County, New York on the 27th day of October 1824, was married to George S. Pike of the same place, October 27, 1841; to this union four children were born, two dying in infancy. Her husband departed this life August 25, 1877. In 1878 she came to Iowa, settling in Maquoketa, December 6, 1880. She was married to Alfred Wright of this city; he departed this life January 3, 1891. She joined the Methodist Church in Glen Falls, New York, at the age of 18 years and up to the time of coming to Iowa was an earnest worker in the church. She leaves two children who survive to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent mother, Mrs. R. S. Pike of this city and Mrs. C. H. McDonald of Clinton, Iowa. The deceased has been failing in health for two years and the past seven months has been a great sufferer. She put up mwith it without complaining, exercising that same will power that she manifested all through her life. She was one of 17 children; of this large family but two remain, both brothers living in the same town they were born and raised in.
