Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, surrounded by her family and with a rosary in her hand and prayer in her heart.
Marge Patricia Sullivan was born March 4, 1918, to Mortimer Francis and Mary Christina(Shriner) Sullivan in South Fork Township in Hurstville, Iowa. Marge lost her mother to uremic poisoning, when she was just 8 years old. Unable to raise his six daughters by himself, Mortimer agreed to have Marge move into the home of James Francis and Beulah Stokesberry where she was raised in an atmosphere of love and warmth. Marge remained close, however, to her father and sisters throughout their lives and cherished her time spent with them.
At the age of 18, Marge struck out on her own to Davenport after having graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1936. She was employed in a variety of positions in the Quad City area, including tour director for the Greyhound Bus Co. in the 1930' and 1940's and various other secretarial positions at Caterpillar, Paker's Department Store, Peterson's Harned Von Maur and lastly Palmer College. In 1940 she met Lester E. Schepker on a blind date in Davenport and they were married on October 9, 1941, in Jefferson City, Mo.
Marge and Less spent their entire married life in Davenport raising their four children and involved in their church and community. When Lester passed away in 1993, Marge regained her strength and continued to enjoy life to the fullest. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan but was also heard to say "I don't not like the Cubs." She enjoyed Cardinal spring training in Jupiter, Florida, until March of this year. Marge was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Marge is survived by her daughters, Mary(Bill) Kellenberger, Kate(Dr. Joe) Rangel, and Mickey Wiegand, and son Jim(Mary) Schepker. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Duke and Tucker Wolfe, T.J. and Sarah Schepker, Tyge Gaul, and Lisa(Mark) Croewll, Matthew Sullivan and Michelle King Wiegand; and great-grandchildren.
