Mrs. Viola Nichols Davis beloved wife of Dr. Davis died quite unexpectedly Monday morning last at her home in Canton, after but a brief illness, taken sick on Saturday previous. The lady leaves surviving her a father and mother, Mr. and Wm. Nichols of Canton, two sisters, Mrs. John Ross and Mrs. L.M.Sutton, and a brother, Geo. Nichols of Cape Town, South Africa. A husband, Dr. George Davis and four children. They are John, Mrs. Berdie Davis Bickford, and James and Geo.,Jr. Mrs. Davis was a general favorite, of sunny happy disposition, a friend of the children and all deeply regret her death. She was baptised into the Methodist Church south in her girlhood and ever led a consistent Christian life. Funeral services were held at the home in Canton on Tuesday 3 P.M., where a very large circle of friends gathered to pay the last earthly tributes to the departed and express the sympathy to the bereft and sorrowing family. The floral offering was large and beautiful. Interment at the cemetery at Canton, Rev. D.F.Boomershine officiated.
