BELLEVUE — Alvin Medinger, 85, of Bellevue, died Thursday at his daughter’s home in Epworth.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

He was born July 4, 1921, in Bellevue to Jacob and Mary Michels Medinger. He married Evelyn C. Kloft on Oct. 5, 1949. She died in 2002.

He served in the United States Army.

He was a farmer.

He was a member of Bellevue American Legion Post 273 and the Jackson County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include six children, Douglas (Nellie) Medinger of Camanche, Suzanne (Larry) Rubel of Epworth, Jeffrey (Jean) Medinger of Clinton, Terry (Brenda) Medinger of Streamwood, Ill., Greg (Debra) Medinger of Atlanta and Beth (Tim) Doyle of Muscatine; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marie (Ives) Eckelberg of Spragueville and Evelyn (Allen) Reistroffer and Audrey Schroeder, both of Camanche; three sisters-in-law, Vera Medinger of Maquoketa, Alma (Ray) Banowetz, Marion and Vera (Norbert) Banowetz of Cedar Rapids; and one brother-in-law, Don (Ann) Kloft, Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother and two sisters.
