MRS. LUCY MCCOMBS

Mrs. Lucy Esther McCombs, 88, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hoyt, in Andrew. She had been seriously ill for several weeks with a heart ailment.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Harrison funeral home, Maquoketa, the Rev. Wilbur Wilcox of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Andrew cemetery.

Lucy Esther Young, daughter of the late Jonathan and Margaret Moore young, was born Oct. 14, 1861, near Galena, Ill. In 1881 she was married to Scott McCombs who died in 1893. She married A. E. McCombs in 1894 and they farmed in Jackson county for many years, later moving to Andrew. In 1935, both went to the Becker home in Maquoketa, where Mr. McCombs died. Mrs. McCombs was brought here to the Hoyt home several weeks ago.

Surviving are two children, Mrs. Hoyt and a son, Clifford of Manchester; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchldren. Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ray.
