BERTHA PARMER DIES AT AGE 70

Bertha Parmer, 70, died at 11 p.m., Sunday, April 22, at her home on Niagara street following a serveral week's illness.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday in the Methodist church with the Rev. Milton Nothdurft officiating. Burial was made in the East Iron Hill cemetery.

Bertha Ann, daughter of James Amos and Lucy Jerman Parmer, was born May 2, 1880, at Luckey Valley, Iowa. At the age of 2 she moved with her parents to a farm north of Maquoketa where she lived until 1917. She then moved to Maquoketa where she has since resided.

She was a member of the Methodist church and for several years a member of the Philathea class.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Delia Clark of Hurstville, Mrs. Hazel Kingsley and Grace Parmer, both of Maquoketa, one niece and five nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Belle Risinger and Cleo Parmer and three brothers, Oliver, Arthur and Eugene Parmer.
