RETURN OF BODY OF HARRY S. THOMAS FOR RE-BURIAL
SERVICES PLANNED FOR TUESDAY, JULY 12, AT 10:30 IN THE MORNING

The body of Pvt. Harry S. Thomas, who was killed in action in Italy on Oct. 25, 1944, will arrive in Maquoketa Monday afternoon, July 11, for burial services.

The body has been resting in the United States Military cemetery at Pietramala, near Ft. Beni, approximately 23 miles south of Bolgna, Italy.

The Harrison funeral home will be in charge of the funeral and military services will be held at the grave in Mt. Hope cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12.

Private Thomas will be remembered by most Maquoketans as the foster son of Samuel Thomas, who before his death, lived at 320 South Vermont St. He was a graduate of Maquoketa high school and spent the greater part of his lifetime here.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army April 6, 1942 and was a member of Co. F Second division, QMTC technician. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Private Thomas was born at Davenport May 22, 1916, and is survived by two small daughters, Archeen Louise Thomas and Anna Katherine Thomas. Also surviving are Ben of East Moline, Ill., and another brother, Marvin of Cedar Rapids and other relatives.
