JACOB RALSTON, an old settlor and a highly respected resident of Jackson County, passed out at his home south of Monmouth at 6:30 o'clock Friday morning April 19, 1902. He was 73 years old last January. He came to Iowa about fifty years ago and settled at Canton, where he remained about ten years, after which he removed to Monmouth where he has since resided. He leaves a wife and one son, Frank, to mourn the loss of an indulgent husband and father. The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church in Baldwin at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. Father McNamara officiating. (Maquoketa Record, April 23, 1902.)
