CARL J. FISCHER OF MAQUOKETA IS TAKEN BY DEATH

Carl J. Fischer, 79, died in his home here Sunday afternoon after an illness of several weeks.

He was born in Germany April 13, 1858, and in 1880 came to Maquoketa. On Feb. 27, 1881, he married Sophia Loitz. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 1931.

Surviving are his wife and eight children, William and John of Maquoketa, Mrs. Fred Becker of Clinton, Mrs. Roy Lambertson of Minneapolis, Minn., Carl and Mrs. Joe Lewis both in California, and Fred of Texas. There is also one brother, Rudolph Fischer of Toronto, Ia., and 12 grandchildren.
